Apprentice Automotive Technician

Education

• Registered Apprenticeship certificate (Required)

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
• Clean driver's abstract.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Must have own transportation.
• Must have one year of experience.
• Enrolment in and active pursuit of levels 1 to 4 of apprenticeship training.
• Physical stamina, with the ability to comfortably lift to 50lbs at shoulder height.
• A commitment to safety, valuing the use of required PPE, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive automotive maintenance across a diverse range of vehicles.
• Inspect, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems, as required.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications.
• Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
• Diagnose faults and confirm findings with supervisor.
• Complete reports to record problems and work performed.

Tools

• Must have own Tools/Equipment.

Security and Safety

• Criminal record check, Steel-toed safety boots.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Fast-paced environment, hand-eye co-ordination, standing for extended periods, attention to detail.

• Excellent written and oral communication, dependability, client focus, accurate, reliability, effective teamwork skills and commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Salary

• 1st year Apprentice start rate is $24.12/hour as per Collective Agreement.
• 2nd year Apprentice start rate is $28.14/hour as per Collective Agreement.
• This is a union position and all rates of pay and benefits are outline in Collective Agreement.
• Hours are 8:00 AM -- 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• 90 working days probationary period
